[BTW, not that it matters, but since everyone is so fond of drawing (and gazing at) pictures of Jesus, the question is a fair one to ask: How did Jesus actually appear?
Unfortunately, many descendants of Anglo-Saxons in the West ethnicize a 1st century Galilean Jew to appear in imagery just like they do.
While we will never know (in this life) how Jesus actually did (and apparently still does) appear, He almost certainly did not appear anything like an Anglo-Saxon.]

[M]any believers [in the  divinity of Christ , w/o which belief no one is a true Christian]… see [the  decline in church attendance  in the U.S.] as not the demise of true faith, but [the demise] of ‘cultural Christianity.’  And, they add, good riddance to it.  The reasoning goes like this: False believers who went to church because it was the social thing to do are now leaving since faith is no longer advantageous [to them by way of cultural approval] [Only] True believers remain [in churches], and are now easier to distinguish within the wider culture…  [But] While Christianity is certainly more than a set of theological beliefs and the custom of sincere worship practices, it can never be less [i.e. true Christianity can never be defined merely by church attendance w/o accompanying intellectual assent to  essential Christian doctrines , such as the divinity of Christ].  So, just getting people back in church is not merely an ‘instrumental [i.e. societal] good… [It is also a theological good because] It is the devil’s goal to get people to embrace Christianity not because it’s true, but for some other reason…  True Christianity will change how people think, behave and relate to each other.  As a result, Christianity often reforms a society, rescuing the oppressed, establishing justice, innovating goodness and beauty, and building [beneficent] cultural and political institutions…  These good things result because Christianity is true, and because people really believe and live out of a framework of creation, incarnation, forgiveness, restoration, and resurrection.

https://stream.org/christianity-is-not-a-means-to-an-end/

[While all those cited points in that last essay are true, the author actually errs in the original article (not cited above).  He conflates and confuses mere church attendance with true Christianity, contradicting the very good points he makes elsewhere in the very same article.]

The Shroud of Turin:

Using a new X-ray technique called ‘Wide-Angle X-ray Scattering‘ to examine a sample of the linen, Liberato De Caro of Italy’s Institute of Crystallography of the National Research Council and his colleagues determined in peer-reviewed research the shroud could be around 2,000 years old… [which] appears to contradict a 1988 carbon-dating study that suggested the fabric was only about 700 years old…  The scientist believes that carbon dating, a method of age determination that analyzes radiocarbon decay, is not always reliable with fabric, explaining why the 1988 study’s conclusion may be incorrect.

“… the exact shade, texture and depth of the imprints on the cloth could only be produced with the aid of ultraviolet lasers – technology that was clearly not available in medieval times… [and] the iconic image of the bearded man must therefore have been created by ‘some form of electromagnetic energy’…  And in case there was any doubt about the preternatural degree of energy needed to make such distinct marks, the Enea report spells it out: ‘This degree of power cannot be reproduced by any normal UV source built to date’… [and] the marks were not made by paints, pigments or dyes and that the image was not ‘the product of an artist.’

[Go figure.]

and…

Scientists are in agreement that no paints, pigments, dyes, or stains have been discovered that could have made the image of that battered man.  Furthermore, the substance forming the image sits on top and does not penetrate the cloth.   This amazing finding only adds to the mystery.
