[Atheists] say it makes them feel unwelcome.

[Once again, ASND simply asks, “Why?  How can someonefeelunwelcome on their own road? Aren’t atheists taxpayers too?”]

[ASND also asks, “What arefeelings’ anyway?  Are they not non-physical, immaterial realities?  But sincefeelings’ are immaterial and non-physical, why do youfeel’ them?“]

[Finally, ASND would also like to ask, “We thought atheists were only interested in objective, empirically observed physicalities as facts?  When didfeelings’ become objective, empirically observed physical facts?”]

and…

Anyone who  trains   character   strengths  increases their sense of  wellbeing …  The largest impact was evident in training the strengths ‘curiosity,’   ‘gratitude,’   ‘optimism,’   ‘humor‘ and  ‘enthusiasm.’

[ASND simply asks, “How are we supposed to know what good ‘character‘ even is?  How are we supposed to know even what “good” is?”]

and…

No.  The argument is not, ‘Unless you believe in God, you have no reason [to care whether the people you love live or die, or even to love them in the first place].‘  The argument is, ‘Unless there IS a God, there IS no reason [to care about or love them].

… four individual atheists… are described as having suffered ‘dyspepsia, symptoms of depression, headaches, anxiety, and mental pain and anguish from the knowledge that they are made to feel officially excluded from the ranks of citizens who were directly injured by the 9/11 attack.’

[ASND will not attempt to challenge the atheists’ main point here with respect to the legality of displaying a sectarian religious symbol on taxpayer-owned real estate.  ASND is curious about something, however.  How does a mere symbol from one particular religious group cause “feelings” of “exclusion” among members of an anti-religion group?  Isn’t intentional exclusion from all religious symbols, meanings and feelings their entire raison d’être?]

Research indicates that lack of religion is a key reason why people in wealthy countries don’t feel a sense of purpose

Rosenberg strongly encourages [atheists] depressed by the emptiness of the Godless world to avail themselves of mood-altering drugs.

Isn’t it odd that [atheists] have such a great longing for [some]thing that do[es]n’t exist?
