An avalanche almost exactly the length and width of the one I triggered, and rode (successfully), back in 1995.
I was skiing right on the fracture line at the top of the slide when it cut loose (though the fracture line was right along the bottom of a rock outcrop which this location doesn’t have). If I had been even a few feet lower when the fracture line formed (and separated), I would almost certainly have died of suffocation before being found.
