How may ASND readers have seen all the MLM “coverage” of the “record” arctic ice loss this year (2012)?  Aside from the fact that it wasn’t actually a record (far from it, in fact), how many of you saw in the same MLM the actual reason why such a “record” low ice volume was reached?

Yes, that’s correct.  According to NASA, the arctic ice loss in 2012 had almost nothing to do with a warm atmosphere and almost everything to do with warm ocean water, which isn’t warmed by the atmosphere but does – and did – melt most of the arctic ice this year.
