Human Ancestry

[After examining the many published, peer-reviewed scientific research studies cited on this page, readers may wish to examine similar scientific evidence presented on ASND’s  Theistic Evolutionism  page as well.]

Digging into the technical [peer-reviewed, paleontologic, paleoanthropologic, and paleogenetic] literature… we find a [scientific] situation that’s starkly different from [that which most] evolutionary scientists who engage in public debates [claim]…  A closer look at the literature shows that… the fragmented hominin fossil record does not document the evolution of humans from ape-like precursors.  In fact, scientists are quite sharply divided over who or what our human ancestors even were…  Despite the constant drumbeat of media stories announcing the discovery of the latest “missing link,” the evidence shows that human-like forms appear abruptly in the fossil record, without any fossils connecting us to our alleged ape-like evolutionary ancestors.

[Yes, the requisite scientific references supporting those claims are provided in the article, as is the case with all the articles shared on this, and every, page of ASND.]

… the fossil evidence doesn’t show the gradual emergence of skull globularity.  Instead, modern human specimens form a distinct cluster isolated from the distinct clusters formed by H. erectus, Neanderthals, and archaic H. sapiens.  There are no intermediate globular specimens between archaic and modern humans, as would be expected if this trait evolved.  Alternatively, the distinct clusters are exactly as expected if modern humans were created.

… the skull shape of modern humans… [has] bulging and enlarged parietal and cerebral areas…  Anthropologists believe that the difference in skull shape (and hence, brain shape) has profound significance and helps explain the advanced cognitive abilities of modern humans.  The parietal lobe of the brain is responsible for:

Perception of stimuli
Sensorimotor transformation (which plays a role in planning)
Visuospatial integration (which provides hand-eye coordination needed for throwing spears and making art)
Imagery
Self-awareness
Working and long-term memory

Human beings seem to uniquely possess these capabilities.  They make us exceptional compared to other hominins.

Now the cradle of mankind has not only moved from East Africa to Southern Europe but even to Germany, and the age is about three times (!) the age of Lucy, indeed 3-4 million years older than the oldest known putative hominins from Africa (Sahelanthropus and Orrorin)…  To be clear… this is not just another find that merely tweaks our understanding of human origins.  It represents nothing less than the final nail in the coffin of the still ruling ‘Out of Africa’ paradigm.  This year we could witness the collapse of the scientific consensus in paleoanthropology.

Did Humans and Neanderthals Interbreed?
Given its importance, it is surprising that Neanderthals did not contribute [the lightly-pigmented skin] trait to the human gene pool, yet, purportedly introduced genes that contributed to the immune system.  The[se] two sets of genes don’t tell a coherent story about human-Neanderthal interbreeding, raising skepticism on the validity of this idea.
