Frequency: How Common Are School Shootings in the U.S.?
There Have Been 13 Mass School Shootings Since 1966, Not 27 in 2022
2018 Study: Schools Have Actually Gotten Safer in the 21st Century
[And many rural schools — where liberals are rarely in control — will continue to lead the way to increasing safety children and teachers…]
School shootings are extraordinarily rare.
Why is fear of them driving policy choices?
School homicides are about three time more often the result of beatings or stabbings than shootings. So why is everyone so angry at guns?
“Students are 800 times more likely to be killed by a gunshot wound outside of a school than inside one [and] the overwhelming majority of America’s nearly 100,000 public schools have never seen a school shooting, and there are entire states that haven’t had one in their history.”
[If, for whatever reason, the reader cannot see the title of the book in the second frame, it is “Arm Teachers.“]

Here’s How We Know Guns Aren’t the Root Cause of School Shootings
Decades ago, guns at schools were commonplace — but school shootings weren’t.
What Has Never Worked: Liberalism
All of the mass shootings that have ever occurred in U.S. schools have been where school districts refused to allow trained teachers to defend their students and themselves with the same weapons mass murderers have used against them. Fears of students obtaining teachers’ guns have proven groundless as that has never occurred anywhere. While there have never been any problems at schools with armed teachers, the number of people killed at schools where teachers are prohibited from defending their students has increased significantly.
According to the Secret Service, past school shootings were predictable and preventable.

[Why? Because all government schools exist at the behest of governments — including the federal government, which is every government school in the country’s third largest hand that feeds them. And what sayeth the C.E.O. of the federal government — Joe Biden — who feeds government schools? “Thou shalt not make government schools safer for children to learn.“]
“A terrorist school shooting [in Israel] forty years ago took the lives of over a hundred elementary school children. Since then, any school in Israel with a hundred students or more has armed guards and staff with concealed weapons.“
[Not surprisingly — at least to thinking people — not one shooting has occurred at any of those schools since the policy was implemented.]
“[T]here have been 2,052 school shootings in America since 1970 [and s]ix hundred sixty-one people have died in those shootings (although only the smallest percentage are mass shootings of the type pioneered at Columbine; most are extensions of or the same type of violence seen in urban neighborhoods)… [Unlike America] Israel takes the protection of children so seriously that there have been only six attacks on schools since 1974… There are armed guards in Israeli schools. There are limited points of entry to schools… [Israeli schools] also engage in behavior profiling, including monitoring the social media of potential shooters.“
Suppose we protected airports as badly as we do schools
The TSA would not exist, metal-detectors would be removed, and all the reasons we can’t arm teachers would be made for not having armed security personnel in airports.
Why do potential shooters seem to favor schools as opposed to airports, which see far more traffic than schools? The answer lies in the difference in security the two receive.
Schools need to harden school security by adding video surveillance, metal detectors, and more secure locks
“There’s Simply No Sense In Allowing Schools To Remain Soft Targets For Killers.

Teachers, Whether You Like It Or Not, You Are the First Responders Against School Shooters
Before 1995, states let teachers carry concealed handguns at school. Research was unable to find a single instance when faculty improperly used a permitted handgun at school.
“[F]ire-extinguishers are mounted at regular intervals along [school] walls – not on the teachers, but reasonably close by. So imagine, next to every school fire-extinguisher, a gun safe, containing one or more rifles, and on the shelf, one or more magazines for each rifle. Imagine, also, next to each fire alarm, a second alarm, a ‘shooter on premises alarm‘ – one that, when triggered, emits a distinctive sound, different from that of a fire alarm. ”

Parkland Shooting Commission Report Causes A Stir: Recommends Arming Teachers
“[T]here is one category of schools that have zero deaths from firearms when school was in session – and it’s those schools who allow teachers to carry [firearms]… Only one accidental discharge by a [firearm] permit holder on K-12 property occurred [when] teacher discharged her gun in a faculty bathroom after school hours, and she was slightly injured when fragments from the toilet struck her. A few other accidents have occurred during firearm training classes held outside of school hours. There has never been a case of a student getting a hold of a teacher’s or school staffer’s gun.“

“Texas allows school districts to approve [armed] ‘marshals‘ or ‘guardians‘ as the last line of defense against a shooter. Under this program, faculty members volunteer to keep a firearm within reach in case the unthinkable happens. They undergo mental health screenings and rigorous firearm safety training — in some cases they are held to a higher standard than police officers… There have been no shootings, intentional or otherwise, at any participating districts in Texas.”
[Yet the nation’s second worst school shooting ever — in Uvalde, TX — occurred in a school where this policy was not allowed . Absolutely astounding, not not the least bit surprising.]

“The U. S. Secret Service examined the ‘thinking and behavior of the 83 American [mass] attackers and near-lethal approachers’ and identified eight major motives for their attacks or planned attacks. What topped the list? Attackers desired ‘To achieve notoriety or fame.’”
“Several past studies have found that media reports of suicides and homicides appear to subsequently increase the incidence of similar events in the community, apparently due to the coverage planting the seeds of ideation in at-risk individuals to commit similar acts.”

Five Things the Media Communicates to Every Potential School Shooter
1. You will be famous
2. The world will come to a stop for you and talk about nothing else for days
3. A school is the target that will get you the most attention

5. No one will shoot back at you at a school—and we’ll make damned sure it stays that way!
Media Misinformation About Arming Teachers
“Criminology research has proven that lawbreakers often attack soft targets or easy prey. In the words of the textbook Forensic Science: Advanced Investigations, ‘Very often, a criminal chooses a target based on the vulnerability of the victim.’ The academic book The Psychology of Criminal and Antisocial Behavior: Victim and Offender Perspectives agrees. It says, ‘Predators, irrespective of their end game, are exceptionally good at identifying the weak members of the herd. Even terrorists who ‘want to die’ are deterred by security.’ They ‘fear failure,’ David Grossman explains, and ‘desperately do not want to die for nothing.’ Grossman is a former West Point psychology professor and world-renowned authority on the mindsets of killers.“
“Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School had about 3,200 students and one armed guard during the massacre. This is about 40 times less security per person than the Dome. Columbine had about 1,900 students and one armed guard, or 24 times less.“
“Even civilians — who rarely have regular, formal training — save far more lives with guns than are lost in accidents. This is another area where many media outlets have grossly misled their audiences. But some key facts [include]:
Civilians use guns to stop lethal violence more than 100,000 times per year, while there are less than 600 fatal firearm accidents per year.“
“A 2013 study ordered by President Obama and conducted by the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council found that:
‘Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million. …’ [and]
‘Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies. …'”
“Even under a high-cost scenario where teachers receive far more training than police and are paid at a rate of $50 per hour for their training time, the annual cost of equipping, training, and supervising these teachers would be less than 1% of current government spending on K–12 schools.“

Broward County Sheriff’s Office Did Not “Miss Warning Signs” or Make “Mistakes”
“The Broward County School Board and District Superintendent, entered into a political agreement with Broward County Law enforcement officials to stop arresting students for crimes. The motive was simple. The school system administrators wanted to ‘improve their [youth crime] statistics’ and gain state and federal grant money for improvements therein. So police officials, the very highest officials of law enforcement (Sheriff and Police Chiefs), entered into a plan… this was a well-planned fundamental shift in the entire dynamic of how teenagers would be treated when they engaged in criminal conduct… Initially the police were excusing misdemeanor behaviors. However, it didn’t take long until felonies, even violent felonies (armed robberies, assaults and worse) were being excused… The need to continue lowering the arrests year-over-year meant that increasingly more severe unlawful behavior had to be ignored. Over time even the most severe of unlawful conduct was being filtered by responding police… Participating in the cover-up were people in the media who were connected to the entire political apparatus… Understanding the risk behind the scheme, it became increasingly important to put the [most] corrupt cops in the schools. Those SRO’s became the ones who were best at hiding the unlawful conduct… For years this has been happening and no-one [in Broward County] cared… then a Parkland school shooting happened [in which] the shooter was one of those previously excused students… ”

“The Parkland shooting was also a perfect storm of criminal negligence. First, because armed deputies were ordered to wait outside the building during the worst part of the rampage. Second, because the FBI failed to act on a tip. Third, because school officials failed to make police referrals that would have denied the shooter’s right to buy a gun. The last failure is the most egregious because it goes far beyond mere laziness or incompetence; it was a deliberate plan to minimize the so-called ‘school to prison’ pipeline.”

The left’s lies, propagated by the mainstream, left wing media, that homosexuals are hated and persecuted by Christians, and that biological sex is just one more ‘choice’ to be taught to our young people, contributed to this latest government school violence.
[ASND wonders how many of those who immediately called for additional gun control following the Newtown, Connecticut massacre saw these stories, published the very same day as the Connecticut story (well, published everywhere but in the mainstream, liberal media, that is). ]

[ASND wonders if those people also call for more laws against knives, cars and gasoline since everyone knows people don’t kill people, knives and gasoline do.]
[ASND also wonders why American school systems aren’t willing to be more like Israeli schools , which provide protection FOR young lives rather than “protection” (prophylactics) against them.]
“[The] shootings [in Newtown, CT], which killed [20 children and 7 adults], demonstrated once again the folly of ‘gun-free zones,’ which attract and assist people bent on mass murder instead of deterring them.“
[For those who won’t bother to actually read it, that story wasn’t actually about the Newtown, CT massacre. That article was orginally about another massacre (on a U.S. military base, no less) which, like the Newtown massacre, could have been greatly limited had there been armed adults in the building (as there are in Israeli schools ). It probably comes as no surprise to learn that firearm-trained teachers are prohibited from carrying those weapons of mass protection into government schools. But how many of you knew that trained U.S. soldiers are also not allowed to carry their own weapons on military bases?]
Guns actually SAVED many people’s lives — including children’s lives — in Newtown, CT.
