[First and foremost, blacks in the U.S. commit somewhere between 22% and 25% of all violent crimes, yet blacks comprise well below 15% of the U.S. population (see tables 2, 5 & 7 in that hyperlinked resource). When it comes to homicides, the numbers are historically far worse. Between 1980 and 2008, U.S. blacks committed murder at the rate of 34.4 per 100,000, while whites did so at the rate of 4.5 per 100,000 .
